Our mission is to meaningfully address food security challenges in Woburn, Scarborough through community-based projects that support residents in growing and accessing healthy food. We collaborate closely with resident leaders in the community to identify the specific systemic barriers in Woburn’s local food system. In doing so, we can create locally-relevant projects that help make Woburn more food-secure.
Who We Are
Grown In Woburn SC is led by a group of students from different programs and backgrounds in the Cross-Campus Capstone Classroom (C4) Summer course at York University, in collaboration with IBM.
There are six sub-groups: Team Knitters, Team Reusers, Team Maintainers, Team Growers, Team Preservers, and Team Connectors. This interdisciplinary dynamic is what makes us unique and innovative, offering creative solutions to complex issues.
We hope our project can inspire others to start projects that have a meaningful impact on food security in their communities. You are also welcome to support this project if you are willing to.
